Timeline

No, not the book. Nor the movie. Nothing to do with that! Louise and I are working on a timeline of key lives and events between 607BCE and 70CE. I’m debating whether to make this purely paper-based, or go for an “interactive” version, either file-based or maybe even web-based!
I’m looking forward to checking out the new features of the 2005 edition of WT-Lib. We finally got them delivered, only about 7 months after being told they were available. I guess those Bethelites must be too busy playing football matches, marrying foreigners and other stuff.
Sort your Artaxerxeses from your Ahasueruses!

| NAME | Date B.C.E | Persian Name | Bible Name | Bible Background |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyrus | 539-530 | Koorush | Cyrus | Isaiah 45, Daniel, Ezra 1-3 |
| Cambyses | 530-521 | Cambujieh | Ahasuerus | Ezra 4-6 |
| Smerdis (Gaumata/Bardiya) | 521 | Berooyeh Doroughi | Artaxerxes | Ezra 4:7-23 |
| Darius the Great | 521-486 | Darryoosh | Darius | Ezra 5,6 |
| Xerxes | 486-475 | Khashayarshah | Ahasuerus | Esther 1-10 |
| Artaxerxes I | 475-423 | Ardeshier Deraz Dast | Artaxerxes | Nehemiah 1 - 13, Ezra 7-10 |
When you consider the account in Ezra, its interesting to recall a paragraph from last week’s Watchtower study. Sometimes when a ruler is unfavourable, he may swiftly and unexpectedly be replacing with one who is. This certainly happened in the case of Bardiya being replaced by Darius. Jehovah’s purpose would not be stopped in having prophecy fulfilled (Zech 3:1)!
Diva - Enough Already!

I’m getting sick of hearing people described as a “diva.” Especially men! What is it with this moniker “diva”? What do people mean when they say “oh he is such a diva” - eh?
Diva is actually used to describe an accomplished female operatic singer. Otherwise known as a “Prima Donna” or first lady. You’ve seen “The Phantom of the Opera” right?
Diva comes from the latin word which means “goddess” - the feminine of the latin word for “god.”
So am I to understand that if you say “oh he is such a diva” then you are actually calling him a goddess? You know what I say? ENOUGH already!
